I had been asked to design a chair for the Chair 2 Show at the Contemporary Art Museum here in Santa Barbara a number of years ago. Approximately 100 artists/designers were asked to design a chair (functional or not) for the museum fundraiser.

I immediately thought of the bag of 1-5/8” aeronautical screws I had been holding on to in the garage. This design then came to life in a few minutes on a napkin sketch. Two identical chairs were made. One was made for the museum auction, and another for myself.
